(1) Five enterprises that are based on the concept of educational toys have been selected under the Startup India Initiative. These enterprises are from tier 2 and tier 3 cities — they are from Surat, Jaipur, Lucknow, Nagpur and Pune. They have designed and developed toys that integrate traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern educational methods. These made-in-India educational toys serve dual purpose of entertainment and education, promoting experiential learning among children.
(2) These educational toys are designed to enhance children's cognitive abilities, improve their problem-solving skills, and foster creativity. They encourage children to think critically and develop a scientific temperament from an early age. By incorporating elements of Indian culture and heritage, these toys also help in preserving and promoting our rich traditions.
(3) The educational toy industry in India has witnessed significant growth in recent years. With the government's push towards 'Make in India' and 'Startup India' initiatives, several entrepreneurs have come forward with innovative ideas. These toys are not just playthings but tools that revolutionise the educational system by making learning fun and interactive.
(4) At the grassroot level, these projects benefit education by making quality learning materials accessible to children in smaller cities and rural areas. The toys are designed to be affordable and culturally relevant, ensuring that children from all backgrounds can benefit from them.
(5) Experiential toys that involve hands-on activities help children learn complex concepts in a simplified manner. Playing is not just a distraction but an important aspect of education that helps in the overall development of a child, be it Science, Technology, Math or Engineering.
